Trust Land Office gets fast access to all the facts and makes smarter decisions using electronic document management

Alaska Mental Health Trust Land Office needed a better way to manage more than 1 million acres of land records spread across 4,800 parcels. Paper files were hard to search, difficult to secure, and made it challenging to gather a complete historical record for fast, informed decision-making. The office evaluated multiple vendors and chose Document Locator, along with document workflow and scanning with OCR, because it met their requirements and was easy to set up.

Document Locator implemented an electronic document management system that converted paper case files into text-searchable digital records and organized new files electronically. As a result, staff gained immediate access to information, could search obscure words in scanned documents with near 100% reliability, and made faster, smarter decisions with all facts at hand. The solution also improved security, reduced redundancy, enabled remote access, and saved time and money by eliminating manual retrieval, copying, faxing, and shipping of files.
