Lions VisionGift - Customer Case Study

Lions VisionGift is a nonprofit eye‑bank founded in 1975 that recovers ocular tissue for transplants and research. As donor files grew from a few pages to hundreds and the organization processed roughly 2,000 donors a year (about 200,000 pages annually), their mechanized filing system became untenable—consuming 600 sq ft, prone to misfiling, vulnerable to disaster, and difficult to meet 10‑year retention and audit requirements.

Working with ColumbiaSoft, Lions VisionGift deployed Document Locator and a large‑scale scanning program that uses cover sheets to auto-create folder structures, capture metadata, and generate bookmarked master PDFs with controlled access and triple backups. In just over two years they became effectively paperless, reclaimed 600 sq ft, saved 5–8 hours daily (valued at ~$30K/year), reduced errors, and secured their records to protect the organization’s mission.
