Document Locator solves HITT's intranet collaboration problem

HITT Contracting, a national general contractor founded in 1937 with five locations and about 700 employees, needed a better way to organize a dispersed workforce across the eastern United States. The company wanted an intranet that delivered the right information to the right people in real time, but frequent schedule changes and resource shuffling made keeping a web site current difficult without adding to managers’ workloads.

The Cram Group recommended Document Locator, an SQL-based document management system that integrates with Windows and Office and was implemented in days. Using Document Locator’s WebTools and role-based security, managers save files to a central repository that becomes immediately available to authorized staff and contractors with no training required. The system now serves as the backbone of HITT’s intranet, enabling secure remote collaboration and streamlined handling of RFIs, change orders, submittals, email and other project documents.
