Auto dealership conquers paper mountain

Bob Lanphere Enterprises is an Oregon automotive retailer with nine dealerships and over 900 employees that had become overwhelmed by paper—sales records filled filing cabinets, took up office space, and were hard to find despite legal retention requirements. The company needed a way to eliminate the paper mountain and speed retrieval of sales documents.

Lanphere implemented Document Locator with WebTools and ScanStation, scanning records into a central, secure repository (pilot July 2006, full rollout by Feb 2007). The system delivered fast, on-demand access across locations, improved audit and customer response times, reduced lost or misfiled documents, freed office space previously occupied by filing cabinets, and is now being extended to HR and other departments.
