Wellmont Health System, a 13-hospital network serving Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia and Southeast Kentucky, was overwhelmed by paper — thousands of contracts and roughly 1,000 checks and pages of documentation each week — with scattered, hard-to-find files and a cramped accounts payable department full of filing cabinets. DocStar scanned and indexed several thousand documents across departments (purchasing, cardiology, radiology, pharmacy, materials management, etc.), gave department-specific viewing rights, enabled electronic routing and signatures, and converted AP processes to digital workflows.
