A DocStar Case Study
Kansas School District, a small K–12 district in Kansas serving 10 schools, faced mounting paper‑file problems: insufficient storage space, slow document retrieval, and vulnerability to lost or damaged records after warehouse fires and relocation losses. To address these issues the district turned to DocStar and its DocStar Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution to digitize and manage student records, board minutes, purchase orders and invoices.
DocStar implemented DocStar ECM to capture, store and retrieve the district’s records, converting backfiles dating to 1950 into electronic documents and hiring temporary staff to complete scanning. The result: three staff members can retrieve records in seconds (previously hundreds of paper searches weekly), off‑site searching was eliminated, duplicate disks are stored off‑site for disaster protection, and the system was installed in hours with minimal training — delivering faster access and stronger document protection.
