United Solutions, a Leominster, Massachusetts–based plastics manufacturer and supplier to national retailers, was overwhelmed by paper-based order fulfillment and the physical storage costs that came with it. DocStar (with implementation support from partner PIF Technologies) delivered a customized solution that converted EDI and paper orders into DocStar virtual forms, enabled workflow-based processing and retrieval by purchase order number, and provided offsite disaster recovery. Six months after go-live United Solutions processes about 2,000 digital documents per day, eliminated at least one printer (saving roughly $300/month), reduced filing and storage costs, cut chargebacks through faster documentation access, and expects a full return on investment within about 18 months thanks to the DocStar deployment.
