United Solutions, a Leominster, Massachusetts–based plastics manufacturer and supplier to national retailers, was overwhelmed by paper-based order fulfillment and the physical storage costs that came with it. To streamline operations and improve order processing transparency, the company selected DocStar and its Enterprise Content Management solution to digitize and manage order documents.
DocStar (with implementation support from partner PIF Technologies) delivered a customized solution that converted EDI and paper orders into DocStar virtual forms, enabled workflow-based processing and retrieval by purchase order number, and provided offsite disaster recovery. Six months after go-live United Solutions processes about 2,000 digital documents per day, eliminated at least one printer (saving roughly $300/month), reduced filing and storage costs, cut chargebacks through faster documentation access, and expects a full return on investment within about 18 months thanks to the DocStar deployment.
