G&F Industries, a privately owned custom plastics injection molder in Sturbridge, Massachusetts (with affiliate G&F Medical), faced an overflowing “dead storage” room, slow and error-prone paper retrieval, and limited disaster recovery after a past fire. CFO Gary DeGroat led an effort to digitize records and in early 2007 the company selected DocStar (via partner PIF Technologies) to deploy DocStar Enterprise Content Management to eliminate filing inefficiencies and secure critical documents.

The deployment eliminated ten five-drawer filing cabinets, enabled storage of more than 7,500 documents, delivered an average saving of $1.75 per document (more than $13,000 annually), and produced faster retrieval, improved data security, remote access and measurable time and space savings thanks to DocStar.
