ContentCrawler Helps Find Critical Documents and Drawings Ending Engineers’ Frustration with DMS

PTTEP Australasia (PTTEP), operator of the Montara Venture FPSO and part of PTT Exploration and Production, was losing engineering productivity and confidence in its document management system because many of the roughly 500,000 project files supplied by vendors were image-based (JPEG, TIFF, PNG and image-based PDFs) and therefore invisible to the DMS search index. On the recommendation of its consultants, PTTEP trialed DocsCorp’s contentCrawler to address the problem.

PTTEP ran a one-month pilot then deployed DocsCorp’s contentCrawler across three libraries to clear the backlog and switch to Active Monitoring for new documents. contentCrawler automatically converted image-based files into text-searchable PDFs and saved them back into the repository, restoring full searchability. The result: faster document retrieval, reduced need for separate OCR tools, lower compliance risk, improved engineer productivity and renewed confidence in the DMS—delivering an automated, “set-and-forget” solution managed via DocsCorp’s centralized dashboard.
