ContentCrawler Empowers Electricity Authority to find Invisible Documents in their DMS

The Electricity Authority of New Zealand, the country’s electricity market regulator, was struggling to find scanned board papers and other image-based files in its iManage document management system—more than 100,000 documents in the repository, with an audit later showing almost 10% were non-searchable images. On the recommendation of their consultants, the Authority piloted contentCrawler from DocsCorp to tackle these “invisible” documents and restore user confidence and productivity.

DocsCorp’s contentCrawler audited the repository, converted legacy image-based documents to text-searchable PDFs in Backlog mode, then ran in Active Monitoring for new uploads, all as an automated 24/7 process with no additional OCR hardware/software required. The implementation made the iManage content fully searchable, reduced OCR costs and compliance risk, and improved staff efficiency and document reuse across the organisation.
