National Galleries of Scotland unifies 4 museums with dn&co.

The National Galleries of Scotland, which houses its collection across four buildings in Edinburgh, sought a wayfinding system that would unify the visitor experience and move beyond basic directional signage to actively encourage deeper exploration of its collections.

Working with vendor dn&co on a comprehensive wayfinding and spatial design solution, they implemented a dynamic signage system with chamfered edges and gallery-specific colors to act as visual beacons. The solution added layered storytelling to signs, replacing simple titles with enticing artwork descriptions to help visitors discover hidden gems and tailor their journeys. The project, which aligned with a broader rebranding effort by dn&co, successfully pulled the galleries together and was recognized with a Transform Silver award.
