Plunkett Distributing, a third-generation family-owned supplier of laminates, moldings and cabinet supplies in Fort Smith, AR, was struggling with a time-consuming, error-prone process for hundreds of custom orders each month: branch sales orders were manually re-entered at the production shop to create bills of materials and work orders. To address this, Plunkett Distributing engaged DMSi Software and implemented the Agility (SaaS hosted) ERP system.

DMSi Software configured Agility’s branch transfer functionality and built a catalog of item blanks so reps can pull predefined products instead of retyping details; Agility then automatically generates BOMs, work orders and shipping/receiving transactions. The change greatly sped order entry, improved accuracy and reporting, and enabled scalable growth—Plunkett reported revenue increases from roughly $4.5–5M to $7M year-over-year and increased production without adding headcount through 2014—while giving management better visibility into margins and trends.
