Kansas City Board of Public Utilities - Customer Case Study

The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities (KCBPU), a publicly owned utility in Kansas City, Kansas, wanted to reduce the burden of maintaining on-premise financial systems and free its IT staff to focus on higher-value work. The utility worked with DLT Solutions to acquire cloud-based Oracle Fusion Financials ERP and related Oracle financial supply chain applications through a cooperative purchasing contract.

DLT Solutions helped KCBPU move key finance functions to the cloud, including accounts payable, general ledger, receivables, projects, and purchasing, with a second phase planned for HR. The shift is expected to save about $1.8 million over five years, eliminate as many as 22 servers, improve real-time financial visibility, strengthen disaster recovery, and reduce ongoing patching, updates, and security maintenance.
