Defense Media Activity, part of the U.S. Department of Defense, needed a way to keep its public web properties available and responsive during major news events and rapidly changing traffic spikes. As the official starting point for military information online, its sites had to deliver timely, accurate information to the public while avoiding slowdowns or outages across shared infrastructure. DLT Solutions, working with Akamai Site Delivery, helped address that challenge.

DLT Solutions’ solution, using Akamai’s globally distributed content delivery platform, enabled Defense Media Activity to scale web and streaming delivery without overloading its core infrastructure. The results included serving more than 4 million requests in 3.5 days, supporting uninterrupted content updates, and successfully streaming a live concert with little preparation. DLT Solutions and Akamai also helped improve bandwidth stability and reduce the risk of service disruptions and denial-of-service impacts.
