Defense Digital Service - Customer Case Study

Defense Digital Service (DDS), part of the U.S. Department of Defense, launched its first-ever bug bounty program, “Hack the Pentagon,” to uncover security weaknesses without putting critical government sites and data at risk. To support this effort, DDS worked with DLT Solutions and used Akamai security services to help protect high-visibility sites from attacks while maintaining uptime during the program.

DLT Solutions, through Akamai’s Web Application Firewall, Client Reputation, Site Shield, ION, and Professional Services, helped DDS and Defense Media Activity secure participating sites against DDoS, DNS floods, and other malicious traffic. The result was 100% availability for high-visibility sites, protection from 55 sophisticated attacks, denial of more than 19 million malicious requests, and no compromise of the Akamai-protected DMA sites.
