Case Study: NBCUniversal achieves a future-ready West Coast newsroom integration with Diversified

A Diversified Case Study

Preview of the NBC Universal Case Study

NBC Universal builds a 150,000-square-foot West Coast newsroom with Diversified

NBC Universal faced the challenge of relocating its West Coast operations to a new 150,000-square-foot headquarters while needing to remain on-air without interruption, including for the broadcast of the 2014 Winter Olympics. This created a rigid deadline for vendor Diversified, which was tasked with a complex newsroom system integration under difficult conditions, as the new central equipment room was not fully completed and lacked power and HVAC.

Diversified implemented a phased approach for installation and integration, working in tight coordination with NBC staff and the construction team. The general contractor built out the equipment room early to allow access, and every piece of gear, including nearly 300 racks, was hand-carried into the building. The project was completed successfully and on time, resulting in what an NBC executive described as a very forward-thinking infrastructure that allows the facility to adapt for future technology changes.
