Datalex Integrates Distil Networks with F5 to Protect Airline Websites from Advanced Persistent Bots

Datalex, an Ireland-based digital commerce platform serving airlines and major travel brands, was being targeted by aggressive web scrapers and advanced persistent bots that stole fares, hurt SEO, drove up GDS API pull costs, and threatened site performance and uptime. Their existing F5-based controls were IP/packet-centric, hard to tune, and ineffective at stopping deep‑digging, distributed scrapers.

Datalex deployed Distil Networks (appliance and cloud CDN) alongside F5 to add device fingerprinting, behavioral modeling and automated JavaScript/browser validation with granular, automated controls. The result: unwanted bot traffic fell 20–50% (one customer saw >50% reduction), persistent scrapers were eliminated, site stability and availability improved, backend costs decreased, and administrative overhead was significantly reduced.
