The U.S. Coast Guard needed a way to train HC-144A Ocean Sentry crews without taking more than a quarter of its aircraft fleet out of mission readiness. To address this challenge, the Coast Guard worked with DiSTI’s GL Studio software through Aero Simulation’s HC-144A trainer program to support highly realistic flight simulation and procedural training.

DiSTI’s GL Studio was used to build the virtual cockpit and instructor operator station for the HC-144A Operational Flight Trainer and Reconfigurable Flight Training Device. The solution delivered a highly realistic training environment, enabled reusable cockpit components to reduce training time and cost, and helped prepare students for real-world missions with only 3 aircraft flights after 18 simulator flights.
