Siemens Power Generation Services faced the challenge of training its global workforce on complex gas turbine maintenance while needing to reduce high travel costs, increase training capacity, and modernize its instructional methods for a new generation of employees. To address this, Siemens partnered with vendor DiSTI and utilized its VE Studio virtual training development platform and professional services.

The solution involved creating a detailed Virtual Maintenance Trainer (VMT) for Siemens' largest gas turbine, which was then deployed via Amazon AppStream for cloud-based access. Working with DiSTI, Siemens achieved a greater than 66% reduction in required classroom training time, saw initial assessment scores average 93%, and significantly cut overall training costs while enabling a new, scalable training business model.
