Oshkosh Corporation, a designer and builder of specialty trucks, faced a training challenge for its HEMTT M978 Tanker vehicle. For safety and logistical reasons, they could not use the actual truck with fuel or an inert material for training, forcing them to rely on a lengthy PowerPoint lecture. This method failed to engage students, who did not feel prepared. Oshkosh consulted vendor DiSTI to develop an advanced interactive training solution.

DiSTI utilized its GL Studio and Replic8 technology to create a comprehensive Virtual Task Trainer (VTT) for Oshkosh. The solution provided an immersive 3D virtual environment and interactive schematics, replacing the PowerPoint charts. This allowed instructors to cut classroom instruction time in half while simultaneously improving student engagement and preparedness for hands-on training with the actual vehicle.
