Oshkosh Corporation, a builder of rugged specialty trucks and access equipment, needed a better way to train students on the HEMTT M978 Tanker. Because the vehicle cannot be operated with real fuel in the training center and cannot be used with inert fluids, the existing program relied on a 300-slide PowerPoint deck and two days of instructor-led lectures, leaving students disengaged and underprepared.

DiSTI developed a HEMTT M978 Virtual Task Trainer (VTT) using GL Studio and Replic8 to create an interactive 3D training environment with schematics for the fuel, hydraulic, and electrical systems. The new solution cut instruction time in half, replaced the slide-based approach, and improved student confidence and readiness for hands-on training on the actual truck.
