Howell Instruments, an engine design company known for cockpit digital instruments, was selected by the U.S. Army to create the H5900H-60 Advanced Engine Instrumentation (AEI) for the Black Hawk helicopter. To support this complex upgrade, Howell turned to DiSTI and its GL Studio software to deliver the precise software and display visuals needed for an advanced, intuitive cockpit instrumentation system.

Using DiSTI’s GL Studio with Safety Critical Embedded Code (SCEC++), Howell implemented high-fidelity, real-time display systems across the Enhanced Digital Source Collector, Multi-Function Central Display Unit, and Multi-Function Pilot Display Unit. The solution delivered a compact memory footprint, improved pilot efficiency, faster reaction performance, and real-time mission and performance data, helping the UH-60 Black Hawk provide greater situational awareness and mission capability.
