Case Study: the Chilean Air Force achieves modernized maintenance training with DiSTI’s VE Studio

FACH builds virtual maintenance training in 12 months with DiSTI

The Fuerza Aérea de Chile (FACH), the Chilean Air Force, faced challenges with its traditional maintenance training for Bell 412 helicopters, which was costly, inconvenient, and outdated. They tasked their education division with finding an innovative way to train technicians while reducing costs. FACH selected VE Studio from the vendor DiSTI as the development platform to create their own virtual maintenance training (VMT) solution.

DiSTI provided the VE Studio platform and a certification program, enabling FACH's existing staff to develop the VMT solution efficiently without OEM CAD data. The solution was completed within the 12-month constraint and allowed for future expansion into AR/VR. While specific cost savings for this project were not detailed, DiSTI cites studies showing virtual training can increase learning improvement by 101% and reduce training time by 35% compared to physical methods. FACH was pleased with the results and plans to expand the use of VE Studio to other aircraft in its fleet.
