Case Study: Kaufland protects margins and reduces waste with Displaydata's enterprise ESL solution

A Displaydata Case Study

Preview of the Kaufland Case Study

Making the most of margins with one of Europe’s largest ESL deployments

Kaufland, the German hypermarket chain operating 1,270 stores across seven countries, needed a faster, more agile way to manage pricing and promotions for perishable goods while reducing time staff spent on manual label changes. After evaluating vendors, Kaufland selected Displaydata’s enterprise ESL solution — including Chroma 74 three‑colour fully graphic electronic shelf labels, wireless communicators and Dynamic Central software integrated with Kaufland’s ERP — to support more frequent markdowns, protect margins and cut paper‑based labelling costs.

Displaydata rolled out 350,000 Chroma 74 labels across Kaufland’s stores on a secure, separate wireless network so head office can make unlimited price changes in seconds and receive status reports (battery, temperature, update confirmation). The deployment freed in‑store teams from manual relabeling, reduced operational and printing costs, increased promotional agility to protect margins and reduce waste, enhanced in‑store marketing and accuracy, and is delivering a projected short‑term return on investment.
