Focus on STEM Drives Student Engagement and Achievement

The customer, Park Ridge Elementary School, sought to improve student outcomes by shifting its focus to STEM learning. To meet this challenge, the school partnered with vendor Discovery Education and implemented two of their services: Discovery Education Science Techbook, a digital science textbook, and Discovery Education STEMformation, a standards-based professional development program.

The solution from Discovery Education was integrated into classroom instruction over a two-year period. This implementation resulted in a measurable positive impact, as demonstrated by student performance on the Florida Standards Assessment. During the study, students at Park Ridge Elementary saw a 6.1 percent increase in reading scores and a 3.1 percent increase in math scores, which researchers attributed to the Discovery Education resources.
