Napa Valley School District boosts ELL student growth by 8 percentile points with Discovery Education

A large Northern California school system, Napa Valley School District, sought a solution to support learning beyond the classroom, particularly after the shift to remote learning. The district partnered with Discovery Education and implemented its DreamBox Math product to address unfinished learning and close math opportunity gaps for its K-8 students.

Discovery Education provided the DreamBox Math platform, which offered highly personalized learning. The district committed to a multi-year implementation to allow for full integration and efficacy analysis. Results showed significant impact, especially for English Language Learners. ELL students in grades 1-8 who used DreamBox Math for about an hour per week demonstrated 8 percentile points more growth on end-of-year STAR Math assessments than non-users, a significant increase seen across all grades and achievement levels.
