Arizona Department of Education elevates student voices with Discovery Education in a 3-year partnership

The Arizona Department of Education partnered with Discovery Education to address the need for high-quality, standards-aligned digital resources. A key challenge was finding diverse materials that would elevate Native American culture and heritage, helping students see themselves in their learning while also preparing them for the stimulus-based questions found on state assessments.

Discovery Education implemented its Discovery Education Experience platform, which included the co-creation of the "Stories of the Southwest Channel" with local Indigenous communities and educators. This solution provided authentic, vetted resources that met academic standards and supported cross-curricular skills. The results included increased student engagement and the empowerment of educators through professional learning to confidently use these materials, creating a more inclusive and collaborative classroom community.
