A Discover Assessments Case Study
Jindal Stainless, India’s largest manufacturer of stainless steel, wanted a more fair and accurate way to identify employee training needs. Previously, managers’ input during the performance appraisal cycle was used to plan training, but many employees felt this approach was inaccurate and discriminatory. The company turned to Discover Assessments and its DISC-based behavioral assessment to improve the process.
Discover Assessments helped Jindal Stainless assess 213 corporate office employees and compare behavioral assessment results against manager scores within a competency framework. Where scores matched, the process was finalized, and where they did not, a behavioral event interview was used as a tie-breaker. The approach produced an 87% match between Discover assessment scores and manager reviews, enabled the company to build a full-year training calendar in advance, and reduced ill will between employees and managers by making training decisions more data-driven.
