Capcom sought to boost excitement and player engagement for the debut of Terry Bogard, a newly introduced fighter in Street Fighter 6. Their challenge was to attract fans from both the Street Fighter and Fatal Fury franchises and generate significant buzz within the fighting game community. To achieve this, they partnered with vendor Discord and utilized its Play Quests product.
Discord implemented a special multi-platform Quest available on Desktop, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles. The Quest featured exclusive Discord collectibles for purchase and was supported by a full-funnel marketing activation. This solution was highly successful, attracting over 500,000 players to join the Quest. Discord's campaign drove a 15% increase in player count and an 18% rise in total playtime hours during the launch week, generating substantial buzz for the new release.
