Using Analytics as the Basis of Decision-Making

Doctors’ Center Hospital, a healthcare system in Puerto Rico, faced challenges in accessing governed, standardized data from its MEDITECH EHR to drive decision-making across its four locations. With executives and staff working from different numbers, the hospital needed a unified view of its clinical, operational, and financial metrics to improve care and manage its capitated revenue model effectively. This led them to partner with Dimensional Insight.

Dimensional Insight implemented its Diver Platform with the Measure Factory add-on, which provided governed, standardized KPIs based on CMS rules. The solution delivered an executive dashboard for daily oversight and an ED dashboard for tracking key metrics. The results were significant: following Hurricane Maria, the dashboard provided critical visibility into patient census during the crisis. Furthermore, insights from the system enabled the Carolina facility to double its admission rate from the emergency department, dramatically improving operational efficiency and patient care.
