A Diligent Case Study
Nacional Monte de Piedad, Mexico’s oldest financial institution (founded 1775) that provides pledge loans to underserved communities, relies on a seven‑member board of trustees and five committees to govern operations. The board historically managed 7,500–10,000 sheets of paper monthly across multiple meetings, and a bespoke iPad app failed at a critical meeting, exposing the urgent need for a secure, reliable board‑management solution.
In 2015 the organization transitioned to Diligent’s board portal, which uses its own encrypted servers (U.S., Canada, Germany) and included remote training; trustees were up and running within minutes. The portal made meetings fully paperless, enabled secure document distribution, note taking, instant updates and searchable digital minutes with effectively unlimited storage, improving compliance, accessibility and IT focus on customer solutions.
