The Largest Non-governmental Retirement Fund of Russia Installs Asterisk

Blagosostoyanie, Russia’s largest non-governmental retirement fund with 1.5 million customers and over $1 billion in reserves, supports employees of the national railroad through 18 regional and 39 local offices spanning 11 time zones. The fund needed an IP‑PBX that was easy to administer at distributed sites, supported large conferences (up to 30 parties), could scale and add features over time, and integrate with Moscow’s traditional telephony via PRI.

ITConnection deployed a distributed Asterisk solution using DUNDi to create a federated, peer‑to‑peer PBX network that automatically shares extensions, routes and changes across offices; features included CDR, IVR, call queuing, MeetMe conferencing and PRI E1 integration in Moscow. The rollout delivered significant long‑distance cost savings (reported 150–200%), simplified cross‑office meetings, and an easily scalable communications platform, with configuration learnings published for the open‑source community.
