A Digium Case Study
The Carey School, an independent pre-K–5 school in San Mateo, CA with 300+ students, was undertaking a large multi‑building renovation that forced classes into portable trailers and exposed limits of its aging proprietary phone system. The legacy system was costly to maintain, required outside technicians for simple changes, left trailers without reliable service, and produced unpredictable telco expenses — so the school sought a future‑proof, feature‑rich, easy‑to‑administer communications solution.
Carey chose Digium’s Switchvox VoIP with Digium IP phones and local partner TeleDynamic to preconfigure and deploy the system; classrooms and trailers were wired with Cat‑5 and Ethernet switches for a fast, reliable rollout. The upgrade delivered campus‑wide coverage, voicemail‑to‑email, bell‑system scripting, presence, remote caller ID and DND, and allowed add/move/change tasks to be done in minutes rather than weeks — reducing costs with perpetual licensing and giving the school predictable annual telecom expenses.
