Ounce of Prevention, a Chicago-based nonprofit that supports early childhood education across four metro locations, faced rising communications costs and limited vendor support under a hosted VoIP contract that was due for renewal. The hosted provider blocked outside support, left the organization without key unified-communications features (voicemail-to-email, call reporting) and required multiple costly T1s, driving monthly telecom expenses to about $20,000.
Their IT reseller, Dynamic Solutions Group, implemented an on-premises Digium Switchvox (Asterisk-based) UC solution — installing three SMB305 and one SMB355 systems and migrating over 400 extensions while reusing existing Polycom phones. The move eliminated T1 lines, added IVR, voicemail-to-email, call reporting and mobile apps, halved monthly communications costs to roughly $10,000, produced smaller line-item savings and delivered a projected return on investment in about nine months while restoring local service and support.
