Frederick Bird Primary School Chooses Switchvox

Frederick Bird Primary School, a larger-than-average, culturally diverse primary in Coventry, needed to modernize its aging phone system to support a new building extension. The legacy system was costly to maintain, relied on multiple ISDN lines with high call and specialist callout charges, and was difficult to change or scale, so the school sought a more cost-effective, easier-to-administer solution.

After evaluating options, the school and Coventry partners selected Digium Switchvox, implemented by Daconi Ltd with a separate broadband feed and independent SIP provider to expand incoming lines from three to five. The rollout used Digium IP phones and integrated Wi‑Fi, introduced voicemail- and fax-to-email, desktop dialing, conferencing, and mobile softphone capability, and cut operating costs by replacing three ISDN rentals with one broadband rental; system changes now take minutes rather than days, improving flexibility, administration, and overall savings.
