Digium Gateway Provides Asterisk and lync Connectivity for Entagroup

Entagroup, a UK IT and communications group made up of Entatech, Entanet and Entamedia, needed to connect its Asterisk-based PBX to Microsoft Lync. The challenge was protocol incompatibility: Asterisk was using SIP over UDP while Lync required SIP over TCP, preventing direct interoperability and limiting use of Lync softphones and unified communications features.

Entagroup deployed Digium G100/G200 gateways to transcode between SIP/UDP and SIP/TCP, placing the gateway between Lync and the Asterisk server. The solution enabled full Lync integration, immediate use of softphones, continued use of existing SIP trunks, lower operating and licensing costs, and a stable, proven UC platform.
