Community Housing Works (CHW) is a San Diego–based nonprofit that grew from 15 to 110 employees across three offices while serving over 8,000 people annually. Expansion exposed limits of their legacy, Utah-hosted phone system—rising monthly bills, poor remote support, and scalability problems—so CHW reevaluated its telecoms when opening a new facility.

CHW replaced the hosted hybrid with Digium’s Switchvox, deployed by local partner SDTEK, buying 115 phones and a Switchvox 310 cold spare for quick disaster recovery. The move delivered easier user management, local support, advanced UC features (chat, voicemail-to-email, web call routing, extensive IVR), and an estimated $450,000 in communications savings over five years.
