A Digium Case Study
Bialik College, a K–12 school of more than 1,060 students, faced an ageing, inflexible phone system that was at capacity (only 100 extensions), hard to repair, and unable to scale with the school’s growth. The college needed a flexible, cost-effective solution to improve staff, student and parent communication, support classroom phone deployment, and reduce wiring and maintenance overhead.
Bialik implemented a self‑managed Digium Switchvox VoIP IP PBX (AA355) with 150+ Polycom handsets, leveraging existing Ethernet and Wi‑Fi to deliver unified communications (voicemail‑to‑email, IVR, conferencing, softphones, browser‑based management). The result was lower telephony and network costs, easier handset moves, improved staff mobility and responsiveness, better parent–teacher communication, and plenty of room to expand without vendor lock‑in.
