A Digium Case Study
Becker School District, a public school system near Minneapolis serving about 2,800 students and 300 staff across five buildings, was burdened by an aging Inter-Tel phone system that required separate servers in each building, lacked modern web-based features, and generated frequent costly service calls (about $300 each). A critical Call Processor failure left much of the campus without voicemail and accelerated plans to replace the legacy system and unify communications across the district.
With guidance from Line 1 Partners, Becker upgraded its network cabling and deployed Digium Switchvox SMB plus over 400 D40/D70 IP phones, completing a rapid “rip and replace” rollout before school started. The plug-and-play phones and UC features (voicemail-to-email, call trees, call recording, and portable phone configuration) simplified administration so district IT now manages the system in-house, eliminated expensive on-site service calls, and delivered measurable operational efficiencies and cost savings.
