Bath and kitchen product wholesaler upgrades with Asterisk System

Van Marcke Wholesale, a Belgium-based distributor of bathroom, kitchen and heating products with 120 distributorships and 1,400 employees across Belgium, France, Luxembourg and three U.S. locations, needed to replace an aging Siemens analog and Lucent digital PBX that couldn’t integrate with proprietary software or support four inbound call centers and multi-site monitoring.

Their IT team built a custom Asterisk-based VoIP system in-house, migrating sites step-by-step, linking legacy equipment via ISDN/PRA and later a Patton SIP gateway, and adding IVR, cross-site call monitoring, voicemail, fax, text-to-speech and voicemail-to-email. The solution delivered full operational control and near‑unlimited customization, bridged legacy and VoIP systems, and cut costs by about €2,000 per month.
