A Digium Case Study
ELSA, LLC is an Elwood, Indiana–based automotive parts manufacturer (425 employees, $167M annual sales) that relied on a 1998 Siemens Hicom telephone system built on 1986 technology. The aging system was costly to maintain (rare technicians charged about $700 service calls), lacked basic features like caller ID and usable voicemail, made after‑hours and plant-floor call handling difficult, and had no budget set aside for a replacement.
ELSA upgraded to Digium Switchvox UC with 150 Digium HD VoIP phones and a fiber network refresh, deployed by reseller Pinnacle with a phased cutover. The new solution provided IVR call routing, caller ID, visual voicemail, call logs and flexible phone options for different work environments, simplified licensing, and easier administration — yielding more than $110,000 in projected savings over ten years and significantly lower maintenance headaches.
