Asterisk’s Scalability and Flexibility Proves a Perfect Fit for Integrics

Integrics developed the Enswitch softswitch to deliver hosted PBX and VoIP services using open source components (Asterisk, OpenSER, MySQL, Apache). Their primary challenge was delivering extreme scalability and per-customer flexibility — each client had different billing and configuration needs that had to be tracked and supported as the customer base grew.

Enswitch addressed this with Asterisk for call control, OpenSER as a SIP proxy, SOAP APIs for billing and integration, and a user-facing UI plus MySQL/Apache backend, offering unified‑communications features (fax/voicemail to email, feature customization), E911, and 24/7 support. Rolled out in 2005, the solution supports single servers to multi‑server clusters with high availability, serves 40+ client accounts, supports a customer with >100,000 users, and has demonstrated scalability to over 6,500 concurrent calls.
