Asterisk Provides Adaptable and Customizable Platform for Animation Company

LAIKA is a Portland-based animation studio known for award-winning feature films, commercials and branded content. As the company grew and opened a remote office, its traditional phone system could not keep up—LAIKA needed an adaptable, scalable communications platform that could connect multiple sites, rapidly provision changing production-based users, and support custom integrations demanded by its creative staff.

LAIKA implemented Asterisk with Digium hardware and integrated it with their OpenLDAP user directory to automate provisioning of extensions, voicemail and phone preferences, added a Firefox click-to-call plugin for productivity, and connects to the PSTN via a Digium PRI. The result is a stable, scalable, highly customizable communications system that saves time, boosts productivity and meets the studio’s unique creative and operational needs.
