A Digital Realty Case Study
Transbeam, founded in 1996, is a U.S. managed service provider delivering voice, cloud, data and professional IT services with a focus on custom network design and multi-location deployments. In 2012 the company set out to migrate its colocation and data center services starting at 60 Hudson in New York and to expand nationwide; the challenge was finding a carrier‑neutral partner with broad interconnection ecosystems and nationwide reach to reduce latency, meet tight rollout timelines, and offer a more sophisticated product set to customers.
Transbeam selected Digital Realty and expanded from 60 Hudson to four additional sites (36 NE Miami, 56 Marietta Atlanta, 2323 Bryan Dallas, 350 Cermak Chicago), with Digital Realty now providing roughly 90% of Transbeam’s colocation needs. Deployments across four cities were completed on schedule within a five‑month window in 2015, delivering lower latency, reliable account and engineering support, streamlined operations via MarketplacePORTAL, and multi‑carrier interconnects (typically 4–6 carriers per site), enabling Transbeam to enter new markets and scale predictably.
