Telefónica UK (O2) faced capacity limits in the infrastructure supporting its My O2 account-management app after years of organic growth. Assets were dispersed across data centre locations and the ageing setup could no longer scale to meet rising customer demand or support new features for onboarding and account management.
Telefónica selected Digital Realty’s PlatformDIGITAL to consolidate and re-architect its environment at the Digital Docklands Sovereign House, using PlatformDIGITAL Data Hub and Network Hub models plus upgraded power, cooling and security. The result was a seamless, no-downtime migration to a secure, highly available (99.999%) and scalable platform that cut cost-per-unit, improved performance and enabled features such as biometric login and an AI virtual assistant while maintaining full compliance.
