A Digital Realty Case Study
Nimbuzz, a mobile communications platform launched in 2008 with a vision to enable seamless IP-based messaging, presence and VoIP for millions of users, faced reliability problems with its original data centre that threatened its "always-on" service for 23 million customers and an upcoming VoIP launch. Persistent outages made finding a more dependable hosting partner essential.
Nimbuzz moved its servers to Interxion’s AMS5 facility in Schiphol-Rijk, gaining redundant power (2N UPS, N+1 generators), access to ~65 carriers and major Internet exchanges, high-density and energy-efficient infrastructure, and strong security and compliance. The change delivered immediate, measurable improvements in performance and uptime (no further issues reported), supported rapid user growth (over 55,000 daily sign-ups) and positioned Nimbuzz for continued feature expansion.
