A Digital Realty Case Study
The London Internet Exchange (LINX), one of the world’s largest IXPs connecting hundreds of member ASNs across 70+ countries, needed to expand beyond its Docklands hub to keep pace with rapid member growth, improve service resilience and drive market competition among colocation providers across London.
LINX hosted mission‑critical switching and routing equipment at Interxion’s London data centre campus, using scalable power, space and cooling, geographic diversity, strict SLAs and 24/7 support to remove single points of failure. The deployment created viable peering outside the Docklands, gave members more choice and value, enabled fast, cost‑effective cross‑connects, and drove rapid member growth that made the site financially self‑sustaining within 12 months, later upgraded to a core node.
