Case Study: INEX achieves resilient, low‑latency peering and member growth with Digital Realty (Interxion)

A Digital Realty Case Study

Preview of the INEX Case Study

INEX At the Core of the Irish Internet

INEX, the Irish Neutral Internet Exchange and the national peering point connecting over 90% of Ireland’s internet users, needed professionally run, secure and resilient data centre space located where traffic and potential members already congregate. Its challenge was to house critical switching equipment in facilities with high security, reliable power and low-latency connectivity so members would not have to deploy extra infrastructure to reach the exchange.

Interxion provided secure colocation at its DUB1 and DUB2 sites with ISO 27001 controls, multi-layer security, N+1 power and cooling, and resilient fibre links. Placing INEX switches in Interxion’s Dublin hubs delivered low-latency peering, access to many carriers and content providers (helping attract new members), reduced INEX’s operating friction and membership costs, and strengthened Ireland’s proposition for inward investment.
