A Digital Realty Case Study
bwin, a leading publicly listed online gaming platform founded in 1999 with more than 20 million customers and 1,500 servers across multiple countries, needed more colocation capacity and resilience after outgrowing its Vienna data centre. The company faced heavy peak loads (daily traffic above 2 Gbit/s during events) and required extensive carrier connectivity, rigorous cooling and power SLAs, robust physical and information security (ISO 27001), and the ability to scale quickly and reliably.
Interxion extended its existing partnership, delivering scalable, reconfigurable housing, access to about 110 carriers (including the Vienna Internet Exchange), multi-layer security, redundant cooling, and 99.999% power availability (N+1 generators, N+2 UPS), backed by monthly performance checks. Leveraging Interxion’s pan‑European footprint, bwin expanded into Interxion’s Paris facility as well, achieving near‑100% availability, fast operational support and the capacity to maintain uninterrupted service during peak traffic.
