How TaskRabbit Uses DigitalOcean

TaskRabbit, a marketplace connecting people with local help, needed flexible, cost-effective staging environments where teams could experiment with full-stack deployments. With a service-oriented architecture and multiple apps per stack, they wanted distinct staging ecosystems for teams and features as well as reliable off-site production monitoring.

TaskRabbit uses DigitalOcean’s SSD-backed nodes to host entire combined stacks (5 Rails apps, 2 Node apps, MySQL, Redis, Memcache, Elasticsearch), allowing fast, economical spin-ups and tear-downs. Integration into their Chef workflow was simple, enabling a new combined staging server in under an hour and providing the agility and off-site monitoring reliability the team required.
